Goals of this blog
Asking permission from strangers. Updated 2024-12-13
- Meet and learn from people smarter than me
- Find people willing to give me money for making things or doing stuff.
- Don’t say anything lame
Those first two goals compete, and thus should balance each other nicely. I need to impress you somehow if I liberate some of your spare change, right? And, if I want to really impress you, I should make you think I’m more impressive than I am. A god, even.
Oh, but as soon as I ask you for help with something, any illusion of my godlike supremacy will instantly vanish. On the flip-side, if I come across as utterly useless, I might get plenty of begrudging “help,” but I certainly won’t earn a buck that way — not from you, anyway. You’re a smart shopper.
That last goal is tricky, because — despite my best efforts and obvious intelligence — something lame will slip out at some point. Just thinking about it is totally demotivating, so I decided to do that now, and get it over with.
A meta-post about a blog that doen’t exist yet is the lamest thing I could think of, so here it is. You’re welcome.
